Hey Ben

Came across your DESH page while trying to ascertain which William Gibson novel cited it.

FYI, the term DESH was coined by me in 1995 as a light hearted piece of musicological jargon for the first Dr Rock column (now long since ceased) in Mojo magazine. I heard about the Gibson citing a little while later but was never able to track it down until now, so thanks for that.

(DESH was my adaptation of a piece of Jerry Coker jazz theory jargon, CESH – Contrapuntal Elaboration of Static Harmony, see Charlie Parker’s melody at the start of the bridge of Confirmation, for example.)
